In this role, you'll clean, inspect, pressure test, and prepare flight components using processes like ultrasonic cleaning and passivation in a controlled environment. This is an entry-level role where you'll build real technical skills working with flight hardware to strict aerospace standards. If you're mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and ready to get your hands on hardware that goes to space, we want to hear from you.ResponsibilitiesCleaning & PassivationPerform cleaning and passivation of flight hardware using solvent/chemical, abrasive, ultrasonic, and other approved methods in a controlled cleanroom environmentExecute passivation processes to ensure corrosion resistance and material integrityUse personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and follow all hazardous material handling proceduresPressure TestingPerform hydrostatic and pneumatic proof and leak testing on fluid system componentsOperate precision measurement and calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical instrumentsVerify acceptance criteria in alignment with engineering and quality requirementsInspection & VerificationConduct visual and borescope inspections to verify cleanliness and hardware integrityFollow detailed work instructions, technical procedures, and engineering documentationIdentify, document, and report non-conformances, defects, and inspection discrepanciesShop Standards & SafetyMaintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work environmentAdhere to all safety protocols when working with chemicals, pressurized systems, and equipmentSafely handle and move large or sensitive hardware using overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipmentQualificationsTechnical Skills — RequiredMechanical aptitude with at least 1 year of hands-on experience using basic hand tools in a production environmentAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentsExperience using inspection tools such as calipers and micrometersBasic computer skills including Outlook, Teams, and web-based systemsTechnical Skills — Preferred3+ year of experience in aerospace, aviation, or a manufacturing environment3+ year of experience with precision cleaning or cleanroom operationsFamiliarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, or fluid systemsExperience with inspection methods including visual and borescopePhysical & Schedule RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasksFrequent bending, lifting, climbing, and working in tight spacesAble to climb ladders and stairsSchedule flexibility required; ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as neededBenefitsFirefly offers outstanding benefits including generous health, dental, and vision plans with low deductibles, parental leave, educational reimbursement, relocation assistance, short-term disability, and flexible PTO..Export ComplianceTo conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations (ITAR), applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.Firefly Aerospace is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
