As a Railcar Structural Welder and Mechanical Technician, you blend hands-on welding with mechanical troubleshooting to return railcars to reliable service. Your day shifts from inspecting equipment and diagnosing issues to executing precise welds and part replacements, all while documenting your work and championing safety.

What you will do

• Complete structural and component welding and fabrication on railcars.
• Inspect railcars and perform diagnostics to pinpoint mechanical problems.
• Repair or replace faulty parts to meet safety and operating standards.
• Record maintenance actions and repairs with accuracy and detail.
• Work closely with teammates to refine processes and boost efficiency.
• Follow all safety procedures and job site protocols without exception.
• Help onboard and coach newer team members in welding and mechanical best practices.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in welding or mechanics preferred.
• Hands-on experience as a welder mechanic, ideally within railcar or rolling stock work.
• Solid command of welding methods and related equipment.
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to read and apply blueprints and technical drawings.
• Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Flexibility to work varying hours and overtime when required.
