About the job Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Torrance, CA or Rio Rancho, NM (in office 5 days per week)
Compensation: $160,000 - $200,000 + competitive equity
Employment Type: Full-time
Visa Sponsorship: Not available (US citizens and green card holders) About the Company The client is a modern defense production company building long-range hypersonic strike systems to close a critical national security gap. Founded in 2021 under a philosophy of "peace through deterrence," it is one of the few hypersonics companies to move beyond concepts to production, with active government contracts including a $23M+ Navy order for 50 units delivering in 2027. The client has raised $1B+ through its Series C. The Role The client is hiring Senior Manufacturing Engineers (5+ years) to own and scale production of critical components for long-range hypersonic strike systems. In a 0-to-1 manufacturing environment, you will drive the transition from prototype to scalable production of thousands of units a year. The client needs people who have built and scaled manufacturing capacity, not just sustained it. What You Will Do
- Own a critical subsystem or component and drive its manufacturing: defining processes, building capacity and improving reliability and efficiency.
- Develop and scale production processes for complex hardware (composites, solid rocket motors, bonding/epoxy, machined components or specialty materials).
- Turn development-stage manufacturing into production-ready assembly lines.
- Write and refine build instructions, test procedures, safety standards and mBOMs.
- Partner with design engineers on DFM and secure the resources to hit production deliverables.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- A record of building and scaling manufacturing capacity for complex hardware
- Experience with composites, energetics, bonding, machining or specialty materials processing
- NX, Teamcenter or similar CAD/PDM tools
- US citizenship or green card (defense work)
- Ability to work on-site 5 days a week in Torrance, CA or Rio Rancho, NM
