Work Arrangement: Hybrid; remote considered based on experience and ability to work independently.
Salary: $45,000–$52,000 annually, based on experience, with bonus eligibility after the first year.

We’re seeking an experienced Medical Biller & Coder who brings accuracy, dependability, and a patient-focused approach. You’ll work closely with our providers, practice leadership, and Northside Hospital’s billing team to support timely reimbursement and a positive patient experience.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and review office claims and code surgical claims for providers and applicable assistant surgeons.
• Review operative notes, verify codes and modifiers, and resolve documentation questions with providers.
• Manage assigned prior authorizations and insurance eligibility verification.
• Track unbilled encounters, missing operative notes, and completed surgeries through billing resolution.
• Monitor Med Metrix and RCx; coordinate claim corrections, denials, and appeals with Northside’s billing team.
• Prepare appeal letters, fulfill authorized medical-record requests, and monitor filing deadlines.
• Manage billing inquiries by phone, email, and patient portal; request surgical estimates and process assigned patient payments.
• Prepare regular surgical billing reports, reconcile monthly PSA reports and payments, maintain provider RVU and bonus tracking sheets, and prepare monthly billing and aesthetics reports for practice leadership.
• Support self-pay and aesthetics payment, package, and prepaid-balance tracking.
• Maintain billing procedures, assist with backup training, and collaborate with staff to improve workflows.
• Stay current on coding and payer requirements and protect patient confidentiality.

What You’ll Bring

• Medical billing and coding experience, including surgical coding.
• Ability to interpret operative notes and accurately apply CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS codes, and modifiers.
• Experience with prior authorizations, claim follow-up, denials, and appeals.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and professional communication.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with a team.
• Experience using EMR systems and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Gynecologic surgical coding experience.
• Coding certification such as CPC or CCS.
• Experience with eClinicalWorks, Northside billing systems, Med Metrix, or RCx.
