Coventry Coatings Corp. is a growing manufacturer of automotive paints, graphic arts coatings and industrial finishes based in Newburgh, NY. We have an immediate opening for an experienced Color Match Technician to join our team, improve output efficiency and most importantly, help us achieve the highest possible levels of batch consistency. This is an important technical role within our organization that requires the ability to multi-task in a fast-moving environment while maintaining careful attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate sharp color acuity and a firm understanding of basic color theory, with proven experience mixing automotive refinish tints. Strongest consideration given to the candidate with relevant color-match experience in the manufacturing of automotive paint and other specialty finishes; mixing at the wholesale supply/jobber level; or tinting at a body shop. Must be able to make decisions and work independently. This position reports to and works closely with senior management for approvals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

- In process QC testing for a variety of coatings products; primarily color matching automotive refinish materials

- Prepare color samples from production batches using spray application equipment

- Measure color samples with Spectrophotometer and adjust to match established color standards using a proprietary tint system

- Measure/adjust batches to maintain specifications for a variety of other quality parameters including viscosity, gloss, clarity, drying properties, etc.

- Maintain precise records for all batch adjustments

- Maintain an organized batch retain sample system

- Prepare samples to submit to customers for approval/record keeping

- Assist technical staff in analyzing/comparing competitive products

- Assist R&D efforts with new/experimental formulas

- Maintain a clean and orderly production lab
