Mechanical Engineer II

Summary An Engineer II at CTG is involved in the development and implementation of products and custom applications related to microwave characterization of materials and components. Engineer roles may include modeling & design, measurement, quality assurance, technical writing, research & development, and product manufacture. The Engineer II is expected to specialize in some of these roles but be able to support all the other roles as needed. The Engineer II is also expected to lead longer-term projects that organize other personnel and achieve milestones within a defined budget and schedule. The Engineer II should have good attention to detail, critical thinking / problem solving abilities, and good communication skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities An Engineer II specializes in some of the following areas but is also expected to support all listed below: Technical Writing: write and edit product manuals, proposals, presentations, and reports Research: participate in internal or contract research to support new designs and technologies Design: use computer aided design software to create mechanical drawings and/or electromagnetic circuits/structures Product Manufacture: Lead or support the manufacture of measurement systems for customers. Determine what is done in house or sent out for quotes. Manage Customer Orders: Coordinate the assembly and delivery of off-the-shelf equipment orders, including entering and tracking project progress on Jira and other company systems, coordinate & assist with quality testing Large Project Management: Lead projects, interact with customers, prioritize & keep project schedule, coordinate cross-team efforts (e.g. software, mechanical, and electrical engineers) Supervise 1 – 2+ subordinates Minimum Qualifications BS Degree in Engineering 3-5 years hands-on engineering experience Comfortable managing the safe use of power tools for production Experience gathering vendor quotes (e.g. machine shop) Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Proficient with navigating computer/network file systems, and arrangingvirtual meetings Specialty software proficiency (e.g. Matlab/Octave, CAD, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project) Knowledge Skills and Abilities Able to reason at a high level: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Able to apply advanced mathematical concepts (e.g. calculus, trigonometry, statistics, etc.) Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Physical Demands and Work Environment Able to lift up to 50 lbs Walk, stoop, reach as needed Work in a business office space that includes a lab and production environment Adhere to all safety and regulatory protocols Excellent close vision with the ability to focus using a microscope for magnification Able to mitigate risks associated with electrical and chemical hazards Benefits 401(K) matching Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Short-term / Long-term Disability Life Insurance Unlimited PTO CTG is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
