You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing. \n Job Summary and Qualifications\n \n \n \n \n \n \n GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: \n The registered nurse provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. The registered nurse cardiac -vascular possesses advanced knowledge and skill in the area of cardiac nursing. The registered cardiac -vascular nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient. \n DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: \n • Uses critical thinking skills to assess facts and make rational decisions quickly and effectively when working with patients who have heart complications \n • Participates as part of an interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of cardiac – vascular conditions such as heart failure, heart valve disorders, high blood pressure, vascular disorders, heart attack and arrythmia \n • Interprets data and responds to urgent situations in a way that optimizes patient care and produces positive outcomes. \n • Uses analytical skills to review test results, draw conclusions, and advise on treatment plans. \n • Performs and interprets various cardiac and vascular lab tests \n • Works closely with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and other physicians in the care and treatment of full range of cardiovascular conditions \n • Participates in clinical trials and clinical research programs as per clinic needs \n • Documents legible and concise entries in the medical record. \n • Documents complete medical history on each patient on initial session and updated medical record appropriately with each visit. \n • Performs appropriate patient preparation for each visit and/or procedure. \n • Performs medication reconciliation on each visit. \n • Educates patients on cardiovascular diseases, including but not limited to preventive measures \n • Helps diagnose and treat cardiovascular events \n • Assists in performing diagnostic tests such as ECG’s, EKG’s \n • Initiatives Holter and Event monitors \n • Interacts with the patients as well as their families pre and post treatment \n • Evaluates and monitor heart related devices such as pacemakers \n • Monitors the patient and their vitals, especially cardiovascular readings \n • Assesses and interprets lab results \n • Possesses knowledge of ACC/AHA guidelines related to heart failure \n • Makes critical decisions concerning the initiative of emergency medical procedures as appropriate \n • Maintains an orderly, efficient, and timely flow of patients. \n • Greets patients and prepares them for physician’s examination. \n • Provides general nursing care to patients as necessary for office treatment. \n • Screens patients for appropriate information. \n • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. \n • Arranges for patient testing and admissions. \n • Checks rooms daily for necessary supplies. \n • Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. \n • Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. \n • Maintains and reviews patients’ records and other pertinent information. \n • Posts tests and examination results. \n • Maintains patient confidentially. \n • Administers medications in accordance with physician orders. \n • Maintains current knowledge to assure a safe working environment and demonstrates practical application of all policies and procedures relative to safety and infection control. \n • Utilizes universal precautions in any potential contact with patient body fluids or used patient supplies that may be contaminated with patient body fluids. \n • Projects a positive image of the facility in all interactions and supporting effective team functioning. \n • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”. \n • Perform other duties as assigned \n EDUCATION: \n • Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required. \n EXPERIENCE: \n • Minimum of three years registered nurse cardiac -vascular experience in an acute care or cardiology clinic setting required. Experience to include \n CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: \n • BLS required upon hire \n • ACLS required within 60 days of hire \n • Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations \n • Cardiac Medicine Certification (CMC) through American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) preferred OR \n • Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV-BC) through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) preferredBenefits\n \n St. David's Cardiology, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
