Physical Therapist

Provide physical therapy services to infants, toddlers, preschool and school age children for a minimum of 50 weekly sessions and conduct physical therapy assessments and evaluations.

Position Functions and Responsibilities:

• Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.
• Provide mandated services to assigned children on caseload in compliance with IEP documents utilizing the resources of the clinical Director of Rehabilitation.
• Participate in meetings and consultations with education staff and the multidisciplinary team concerning the needs of each child as related to his/her mandated services and progress updates.
• Work effectively with parents, teaching staff and other professionals directly involved in the care and treatment of the child to develop and monitor IEP services.
• Use accurate assessment skills to perform functional evaluations with reports reflecting current knowledge and evidence-based practices and communicate results effectively in both written and verbal formats.
• Maintain accurate record keeping and IEP/IFSP goal tracking documentation as required by SED/EI and Elizabeth Seton Children's policies for quality assurance and accountability purposes.
• Responsible for providing input into and when appropriate fabrication of child's assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and orthotic appliance needs.
• Serves as clinical instructor and assists with coordination of affiliation programs as needed for physical therapy students.
• Actively participate in the creation and implementation of an individual and School wide Professional Development Plan that inspires personal growth and informs clinical practices.
• Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Elizabeth Seton Children's policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with students and their families.
• Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration.

Position Requirements:

Experience:

• Minimum of 1-year Pediatric Physical Therapy experience
• 2-year Physical Therapy experience required

Education Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree or Doctorate degree
• NYS PT License and Registration Certificate Required
• BLS/CPR Certification preferred
• NPI Number Required

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
• Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies
• Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of Elizabeth Seton Children's which includes a medical and physical examination
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds
• Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the children's blood/body fluids
• Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children if necessary
• Must hold valid drivers license and be able to travel safely throughout community

Working Conditions:

• Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area
• Will be subject to frequent interruptions
• May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary

Scheduled Work Hours:

• 8am to 3:30pm; or 8:30am to 4:00pm
• 35 hours work week
• Work days: Monday thru Friday
