Network Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to support a company supporting the Department of Defense. This position is onsite at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL . This is a unique opportunity supporting a network modernization effort within a classified CENTCOM environment.

Responsibilities for the Network Engineer include:

• Assess existing Cisco Catalyst switching infrastructure and network topology.
• Identify configuration gaps, single points of failure, and resiliency improvements.
• Implement approved changes on Cisco Catalyst 9300X switches.
• Validate Layer 2 and Layer 3 network functionality after modernization efforts.
• Perform failover, redundancy, and convergence testing.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues across switches, servers, and storage systems.
• Develop network diagrams, configuration documentation, and as-built records.

Required Qualifications for the Network Engineer include:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9000-series switches, preferably 9300X.
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts.
• Experience with VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, routing, and network redundancy.
• Experience with Brocade switches, HPE 280 and 380 servers, and NetApp.
• Proven ability to assess and modernize enterprise network environments.
• Strong troubleshooting experience in production or mission-critical environments.
• Ability to create technical documentation and implementation records.
