Role Overview

\n

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Developer in Test (SDET) to join the device engineering team. This role focuses on designing and implementing complex automation frameworks and test systems to validate key product features across Surface devices. You will work closely with the Test Architect to expand test coverage, improve automation efficiency, and develop innovative testing solutions that ensure product quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Develop robust and scalable automation frameworks to validate features.
\n
• Integrate test execution and results collection using Windows Test Technologies (WTT).
\n
• Use PowerShell to orchestrate test setup, log collection, and system configuration activities.
\n
• Assign bugs and feature work to the appropriate engineering resources for implementation.
\n
• Serve as the first-level code reviewer, providing guidance on significant design, quality, and maintainability issues.
\n
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to create, maintain, and enhance automated test cases and validation workflows.
\n
• Collaborate with the Test Architect to define new test strategies and expand automation coverage.
\n
• Track work items, test results, and defects using Azure DevOps (ADO).
\n
• Present progress updates to senior leadership, highlighting key metrics, blockers, risks, and accomplishments.
\n
• Create clear, concise, and executive-ready presentations and technical communications.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• Strong programming and scripting skills, including PowerShell and at least one modern programming language.
\n
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks.
\n
• Familiarity with WTT or similar test execution frameworks.
\n
• Solid understanding of software testing principles, automation methodologies, and validation strategies.
\n
• Experience using Azure DevOps for work item and bug tracking.
\n
• Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring developers on quality and best practices.
\n
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and test coverage.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical information to leadership audiences.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

\n
• Experience in hardware/software integration testing.
\n
• Experience developing automation for Windows-based platforms and devices.
\n
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development and test generation tools.
\n
• Prior experience working in a product development environment, preferably in consumer electronics, device engineering, or embedded systems.
\n

Pay and Benefits

\n

Pay Range Minimum: $69000/Year

\n

Pay Range Maximum: $128000/Year

\n

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
