Construction Manager

Overview Construction Manager position located in our Costa Mesa, California office. The successful candidate will manage the construction of civil earthwork, civil infrastructure, environmental remediation, landfill construction and related activities; oversee the construction process from conceptual development through final construction, addressing a variety of challenges. Work alongside clients, engineers, and contractors and represent our clients in large multi‑phase projects. Responsibilities Understand and manage construction work in compliance with technical specifications, construction drawings, and work plans; Effectively communicate proposed design modifications and concerns to the Engineer‑of‑Record in a timely and professional manner; Provide safety leadership on all projects by implementing and adhering to site‑specific health and safety plans and company guidelines; Review and respond to contractor RFIs, submittals, clarifications regarding contract documents, and pay applications in a timely manner; Review and approve contractors’ CQC procedures including material submittals and manufacturers’ quality control documents for completeness and compliance; Maintain complete and accurate project communications files; Maintain time and production records, analyze schedules and CPM, monitor progress with respect to approved schedules, and assist with optimizing CPM tasks; Prepare weekly construction meeting agendas and minutes in a timely manner; Approve and issue field change requests and request change orders for out‑of‑scope work; Review field documentation and laboratory tests of construction materials for compliance with project specifications; Establish, organize, and maintain field offices to provide a clean, orderly, and professional work environment; Identify and manage project staffing requirements to meet project demands; Interact with project personnel including contractors, project managers, engineers and clients to foster an integrated and professional team approach; Drive company vehicles to client or project sites as needed. Skills, Experience And Qualifications Geosyntec is open to several combinations of education, qualifications and experience. High school diploma and ten (10) years of relevant experience in construction management, or An associate degree or college diploma with a minimum of eight (8) years of applicable experience, or Bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related fields with a minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience, or Equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge and skills. Experience managing infrastructure construction or environmental remediation projects with high safety standards and regulatory compliance. (required) Project management experience and knowledge of CPM software. (preferred). Experience with Microsoft Windows‑based software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). (required) Technical understanding of construction quality assurance and management procedures for civil infrastructure, solid waste facilities, or environmental remediation projects. (required) Willingness to work at construction sites in various locations and pursue a career in Construction Management. (required) Ability to lift up to 49 pounds unaided and 50–100 pounds with assistance and/or engineering controls. (required) Ability to speak, hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required) Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be self‑motivated, and have a strong work ethic. (required) Regular field work and overnight travel. (required) Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing. (required) Valid U.S. driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation for business travel. (required) Compensation and Benefits The typical base salary range for this position is $95,375 to $152,600 per year (Costa Mesa, CA). Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
