Salary: $60,000–$85,000 + Growth Opportunities
Federal Hill Mortgage is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented mortgage professional to join our team as a Mortgage Auditor Specialist . This role is ideal for someone who is extremely attentive to detail (e.g., loves “finding a needle in a haystack”) and has a strong understanding of mortgage documentation, compliance, and quality control. This is not an administrative or receptionist role. This role requires recent mortgage experience and analytic skills .
In this position, you will play a critical role in ensuring closed loan files are accurate, complete, and compliant with investor, agency, and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Do
Mortgage Auditing & Post-Closing Quality Control
Perform detailed post-closing audits of mortgage loan files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with investor, agency, and regulatory guidelines.
Review loan documents for adherence to FHA, VA, Conventional, USDA, and Non-QM program requirements.
Verify accuracy of disclosures, closing documents, income calculations, fees, signatures, and underwriting conditions.
Identify documentation deficiencies, compliance discrepancies, and potential audit findings, and work with internal teams to resolve issues.
Ensure closed loans meet internal quality control standards and secondary market requirements.
Maintain organized audit records and document findings, corrections, and resolutions.
Assist with preparation for internal and external audits, investor reviews, and regulatory examinations.
Stay current on changing mortgage regulations, compliance requirements, and investor updates.
Team Collaboration & Professionalism
Support loan officers and operations staff with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
Handle confidential borrower information with professionalism and discretion.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment built on accountability and high standards.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 recent years of experience in mortgage auditing, post-closing, quality control, or mortgage compliance.
Strong understanding of mortgage lending guidelines, compliance standards, and closing documentation.
Experience reviewing FHA, VA, Conventional, USDA, and Non-QM loan files.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
