Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFunctional Safety EngineerHybrid Work Schedule | Contract-to-Direct Hire | $35–$47 per hourReliance One is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to support the development and implementation of safety-related systems and processes for our customers. This position will apply functional safety practices to products within Electrified Mobility, Intelligent Mobility—including ADAS and autonomous driving—and Connected Mobility.The Functional Safety Engineer will support multiple development programs while collaborating directly with customers and cross-functional engineering teams.What You’ll DoDevelop and maintain functional safety plans aligned with customer program timelinesCreate and review Item Definitions and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA)Perform and review safety analyses, including FTA, FMEA, FMEDA, and DFADerive safety requirements and develop functional and technical safety conceptsSupport the implementation of safety requirements at the system, hardware, and software levelsConduct functional safety architecture and design reviewsDefine verification and validation testing requirementsSupport safety reviews, process audits, and product functional safety assessmentsCommunicate technical findings and recommendations directly to customers and project teamsWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field1–5 years of relevant experience in systems, software, hardware, controls, or automotive engineeringAt least one year of functional safety experienceKnowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21448, IEC 61508, or comparable industry safety standardsExperience applying functional safety principles to complex vehicle electrical systemsExperience with ISO 26262-based processes, including risk analysis, safety concept development, FMEA, and FTAExperience supporting functional safety activities throughout the product development lifecycle, including:Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)FTA, FMEA, FMEDA, and DFASafety concept developmentRequirements engineeringArchitecture reviewsVerification and validation testingAbility to interpret and evaluate complex vehicle systems and architectures from a safety perspectivePreferred QualificationsExperience across multiple industries, such as automotive, commercial vehicles, or off-highway equipmentExperience with FMEA and FTA tools such as Reliability Workbench, Ansys medini analyze, or similar platformsAbility to interpret MATLAB/Simulink models and C/C++ codeStrong organization and project management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProfessional presentation skills and the ability to interact directly with clientsSelf-motivated, organized, and effective in a collaborative team environmentWhat We Offer$35–$47 per hourContract-to-direct-hire opportunityHybrid work scheduleMedical, dental, and vision benefits beginning on your first dayPaid time off and paid holidaysIf you are passionate about functional safety and want to contribute to the next generation of mobility technology, we encourage you to apply.Reliance One, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
