Job Title: CNC Machine Operator

Job Description

This role is an intermediate-level CNC machinist position responsible for producing high-quality precision parts on CNC mills and lathes in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. The team is hiring multiple operators across a range of skill levels for both first and second shifts, focusing on precision manufacturing and adherence to engineering and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, saws, and multi-axis machining centers to produce precision components.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T specifications to ensure accurate machining.

• Perform machine setups, tooling adjustments, and offset changes appropriate to your experience level.

• Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues to maintain part quality and machine efficiency.

• Produce precision machined components that meet customer and engineering specifications.

• Perform in-process inspections using precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.

• Monitor machine performance and identify potential machining or tooling problems before they impact production.

• Deburr, clean, and prepare finished parts for inspection or additional manufacturing operations.

• For entry-level machinists (Machinist I), perform machine operation and basic inspection activities under supervision while assisting with setups and developing machining skills in a production environment.

• For experienced machinists (Machinist II), perform setups, tooling adjustments, inspections, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision, and assist in mentoring entry-level machinists.

• For lead-level machinists (Machinist III / Lead), lead setups and operate complex CNC equipment including multi-axis machining centers, optimize machining processes, validate programs, support first article inspections, serve as a technical resource and mentor, and support production planning, continuous improvement, and process optimization initiatives.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of CNC machining or CNC operator experience for Machinist I roles.

• 4+ years of CNC machining experience for Machinist II roles.

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience for Machinist III / Lead roles.

• Hands-on experience operating CNC mills, lathes, grinders, saws, and multi-axis machining centers.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T specifications.

• Proficiency in performing machine setups, tooling adjustments, and offset changes appropriate to skill level.

• Experience performing in-process inspections using precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.

• Demonstrated ability to produce precision machined components to strict customer and engineering specifications.

• Capability to monitor machine performance and identify machining or tooling issues.

• Strong troubleshooting skills in a CNC machining environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in precision manufacturing and high-quality part production.

• Background in machine operation within a production environment.

• Familiarity with GD&T and complex blueprint reading for higher-level machinist roles.

• Ability to assist with setups and develop machining skills under supervision for entry-level roles.

• Ability to perform setups, tooling adjustments, inspections, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision for mid-level roles.

• Experience leading setups and operating complex CNC equipment, including multi-axis machining centers, for lead-level roles.

• Experience optimizing machining processes, validating CNC programs, and supporting first article inspections.

• Ability to serve as a technical resource and mentor for machinists and production teams.

• Experience supporting production planning, continuous improvement, and process optimization initiatives.

Work Environment

The work area is 100% climate controlled, providing a comfortable and consistent environment for precision machining. The primary shift available is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with additional opportunities on a second shift operating Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on four 10-hour shifts. Work is performed in a production machining setting using CNC mills, lathes, grinders, saws, and multi-axis machining centers, with regular use of precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cherry Hill, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
