THE ROLE: The College & Career Readiness Program Assistant reports to the College and Career Readiness Director and helps students prepare for life after high school. This is a great opportunity for someone with some college and career readiness experience who is personable, comfortable speaking in front of groups, and excited to help students build confidence as they explore college and career paths. The Program Assistant keeps up with what's happening at partner school events, testing dates, and deadlines, presents expectations and key information to students, and assists with group facilitation, working alongside the Director and program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•        Keep abreast with activities and key dates at partner schools, including school events, testing dates, test prep and advising schedules, and application deadlines.

•        Present program expectations, timelines, and key information clearly to students, both one-on-one and in group settings.

•        Assist with facilitating group workshops and student orientations alongside Teacher Advisors, College advisors, Tutors, and/or other Staff.

•        Support students in group settings with everyday questions about their college and career goals.

•        Assist with tracking student attendance, sign-ins, and basic program data entry.

•        Represent the program at community outreach and college access events alongside the team.

•        Build friendly, supportive relationships with students, school staff, and volunteer mentors.

•        Help prepare for and support our yearly mock interview event, college decision day, and similar activities.

•        Travel to local partner school sites to support advising sessions and presentations.

•        Keep the Director and team updated on student progress and school-level developments.

•        Assist with other program tasks and projects as needed.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

•        Minimum Education Requirement: Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Open to degree-seeking students; professional experience will also be considered.

•        Some college and career readiness experience required. Experience working, volunteering, or interning with youth (tutoring, coaching, mentoring, camp counseling, etc.) is a plus.

•        Experience working with first-generation and/or low-income students is a plus.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

•        Personable and comfortable speaking and presenting in front of groups; strong, friendly communication skills are a top priority for this role.

•        Familiar with college, financial aid, and scholarship applications.

•        Good basic computer skills; familiarity with Canva, Microsoft Office, and Google Classroom preferred.

•        Comfortable standing and sitting for periods of time during workshops and events.

•        Enjoys working with students from different educational, economic, and cultural backgrounds and can connect with them in an open, non-judgmental way.

•        Reliable, organized, and a team player who is eager to learn.

•        Must have reliable transportation; valid driver's license and access to a vehicle to travel to local school sites is required.

Satisfactory background checks, completion of drug screening, and valid documentation that verifies identity and employability in the United States are required for the position.
