Qualifications

Solutions Architect I

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• Seven years of IT experience, including at least two years of technical leadership and architecture.
• At least three years designing end‑to‑end solutions in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise application ecosystems and integration patterns.
• Experience in the health insurance industry and payer processes preferred or equivalent education/experience.

Solutions Architect II

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Seven years of IT experience, including at least two years of technical leadership and architecture.
• At least five years designing enterprise‑scale solutions in complex environments.
• Deep understanding of enterprise application ecosystems, integration architecture, and legacy modernization.
• Experience in health insurance industry, payer processes, and health insurance technologies and regulations preferred or equivalent.

Skills and Attributes

• Technical depth: enterprise application ecosystems (ERP, EPM, SaaS) and integration architecture across file‑based, API‑driven, and streaming patterns.
• Experience designing and evaluating data pipeline & ETL architectures, on‑premises and cloud‑native.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS and Azure services, modern development languages (JavaScript/Node.js, C#, etc.).
• Assessment and refactoring of legacy codebases; recommendation of maintainable alternatives.
• Middleware and managed file transfer concepts; SQL and data analysis.
• AI solutions evaluation, including AI/ML platforms and large‑language model applications.
• Modernization: legacy assessment, technical debt, pragmatic road‑maps, build vs. buy decisions.
• BPM & BRE usage, AI for process improvement.
• Containers, serverless, SQL/NoSQL database design, observability tooling (CloudWatch, NewRelic).
• Architectural frameworks (TOGAF, ArchiMate) or equivalent; enterprise architecture modeling.
• Leadership: peer collaboration with engineering managers, influence without authority, mentoring, negotiation, problem solving.
• Continuous learning, skill development.

Responsibilities – What You Will Do

• Serve as technical authority for Corporate Solutions architecture across Finance, Legal, Compliance, Imaging, Archiving, Middleware, and Integration platforms.
• Diagnose and prioritize legacy complexity and technical debt, developing clear modernization road‑maps with engineering managers and business stakeholders.
• Design scalable, modern solutions that replace highly customized legacy implementations.
• Lead evaluation of existing integrations (file‑based, API‑driven, streaming) and define modern patterns.
• Design and evaluate data pipeline and ETL architectures, including on‑premises and cloud‑native approaches.
• Evaluate AI solutions, partner with enterprise AI team to define, design, and implement AI‑enabled solutions.
• Guide build‑vs‑buy decisions through rigorous platform and vendor evaluations.
• Provide hands‑on technical guidance (proof‑of‑concept development, code review, real‑time problem solving).
• Assess and refactor legacy codebases for maintainability and scalability.
• Establish technical direction, standards, and expectations across delivery teams.
• Accurately estimate resources and time scales for projects or service implementations.
• Audit project status to ensure technical and process excellence.
• Mentor engineers and architects in a 30‑40 person organization.
• Translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders and executives.
• Document all solutions within EA modeling environment; participate in governance and quality review.

Pay Range

Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho: Solutions Architect I $114K–$143K/year; full range $114K–$186K/year. Bonus target 15%. North Dakota: $114,000–$150,000; full range $114,000–$187,000.

Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho: Solutions Architect II $140K–$175K/year; full range $140K–$228K/year. Bonus target 20%. North Dakota: $130,000–$172,000; full range $130,000–$214,000.
