Team Lead Registered Nurse (RN), Surgery - Full-Time, Days

Job Description Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Team Lead Registered Nurse in the Surgery department. You will maintain working relationships with orthopedic surgeons, vendors, and supply chain, update surgeons’ preferences and provide or teach in‑services to peers. This is a 100 % onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area. Eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $15,000. Essential Job Functions Reviews cases within the specialty for accuracy of scheduled case length and ensures needed supplies are available. Supports performance improvement initiatives. Delivers care in a financially responsible manner, conserving resources and supporting the budget. Complies with cost containment measures by maintaining PAR level for service/specialty. Serves as a resource for surgical specialties regarding instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintains physician preference cards to ensure information is current and accurate. Assists with updating departmental policies and procedures. Organizes assigned surgical cases before case starts. Completes annual competencies. Supports and promotes customer service initiatives. Demonstrates leadership abilities, uses appropriate channels to constructively communicate concerns, displays a positive image for the department and organization, and facilitates constructive problem‑solving. Works collaboratively with co‑workers, physicians, and management. Computer literate. Communicates with surgeons regarding future equipment needs. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies and procedures. Assists with supervising the performance of duties of staff within the designated service specialty(ies). Supports surgical management in developing and implementing surgical strategic initiatives. Orients new OR staff to the surgical specialty. Assists with special projects and/or committees as needed. Circulates and performs other surgical nurse duties. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s (ADN). Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois or a valid temporary permit to practice nursing in the State of Illinois. Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). CNOR certification within 2 years of hire. 3 years of OR experience. Demonstrated expertise within a specified surgical specialty. Position Details Job type: Full-time (0.9). The pay range is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed annually. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to collective bargaining agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
