Under limited supervision, this position serves as a Waiver Case Management Specialist (WCMS), providing case management functions including those related to waiver service utilization, coordination of case management provider transfers as requested, assisting with the residential habilitation referral and admissions process, and promoting person centered thinking practices.

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) plans, develops, coordinates, and funds services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of:

• Intellectual disability and related disabilities
• Autism spectrum disorder
• Traumatic brain injury
• Spinal cord injury and similar disability

This position is located at the BHDD Central Office in Cayce, SC.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and at least one year of experience working with the target population, including experience in the OIDD service delivery system.

Preferred Qualifications

A master's degree from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of inter-agency case management principles and practices and must be familiar with the populations served by OIDD (individuals with intellectual disabilities, related disabilities, brain injury, spinal cord injury and similar disabilities) as well as available services/supports. Knowledge of Medicaid State Plan and OIDD operated HCB Waiver services is required. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, as well as computer literacy. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
