Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM) Experience: Two (2) years of acute care RN experience required License: Registered Nurse license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM required Must-Have: - Epic experience - Acute care nursing - Patient assessment - Plan of care development - Clinical intervention monitoring - Patient education Description: A professional nurse is responsible for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are priorities for this role. The RN is accountable for maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. Supervision of licensed and non-licensed staff members is expected. The RN utilizes the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care in their practice. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction are central to the RN's role. The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care. Mentoring and precepting staff is also part of the RN's responsibilities. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources effectively to support organizational and patient needs. Evaluation: Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates, coordinates, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor and promotes teamwork among staff. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Complies with regulatory standards and participates in governance models. Is knowledgeable about activities that facilitate collaboration across departments. Promotes cost-effective care. Provides feedback to coworkers. Maintains awareness of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare. Ensures a safe and secure environment for all patients and staff. Patient Assessment: Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities. Synthesizes assessment data meaningfully before communication. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs for patients and families. Develops relationships that allow families to advocate for their needs. Planning: Collaborates with patients and families to update care plans. Utilizes resources in planning comprehensive care. Addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning. Research: Engages with journals and brings ideas to the staff for discussion.
