Micro Molding Process Technician

Location: Ankeny, IA (onsite)
Pay: $21 to $21 per hour, non-exempt
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts, day or night

About the Role

Do you take pride in making precise parts that work the first time? As a Micro Molding Process Technician, you'll own the production of plastic parts that meet or exceed customer expectations. You'll fine-tune processes, solve problems at the machine, and help train the next generation of technicians.

Schedule

You'll work a rotating pattern: 3 days on, 2 days off, then 2 days on, 3 days off.

• Days: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Nights: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM

What You'll Do

• Lead by example, mentoring and training new team members
• Choose the most efficient processing methods for each part's specifications and constraints
• Improve manufacturing efficiency using your knowledge of product design, materials, equipment, and quality standards
• Set and maintain mold processing parameters across all shifts
• Document mold performance for the tool room, quality control, and production management
• Troubleshoot systematically, perform minor mold and machine maintenance, and recommend solutions
• Raise production issues with management and join meetings to resolve customer complaints, design problems, and equipment limitations

What You Bring Required

• High school coursework or a GED
• Experience or training in manufacturing with quality systems
• Ability to use measuring and inspection equipment
• Ability to read specification drawings for inspection
• Comfort with basic math (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals in all units of measure)
• Practical problem-solving skills
• Clear communication, one-on-one and in small groups
• Basic keyboarding skills

• Flexibility for occasional travel and overtime as production needs require

Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting, standing, and movement around the facility
• Steady hands for working with very small parts and tweezers
• Sense of touch to detect texture, burs, and edges
• Normal or corrected vision, including good color and close vision, plus the ability to use and focus a microscope
• Ability to lift or move up to 55 lbs

Work Environment

You'll work in a climate-controlled facility with few temperature or humidity extremes. Noise is usually moderate, ranging from very low to moderate depending on the area. Safety glasses are required. This is an individual contributor role with no supervisory duties.
