Production Planner

Job Description Job Description Johnson Service Group, a nationally award-winning staffing firm, has an immediate opportunity for a Production Planner and Control with a Laser Technology firm in Madison, WI Direct Hire | Onsite | $90 - $104K depending on experience Summary We are seeking an experienced Production Planner and Control professional to support production scheduling and materials coordination within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient production flow, balancing capacity and material availability, and ensuring on-time customer delivery. The Production Planner will develop, own, and manage the Master Production Schedule based on production capacity, material readiness, labor availability, and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage the end-to-end production plan, ensuring alignment with MRP requirements, capacity constraints, and customer delivery commitments Create and maintain the Master Production Schedule Plan and release work orders based on sales orders and forecasts Monitor work in process throughout the manufacturing operation Lead production review meetings and drive discussions regarding build-plan status, constraints, and recovery plans Partner with Production, Supply Chain, Sales, Warehouse, Engineering, and Finance to maintain the Internal Operating Plan Monitor shipment performance and escalate issues that could affect customer commitments Prepare scheduling reports, dashboards, KPIs, and status updates for operations leadership Track actual shipments against forecasts and identify performance gaps Work closely with Manufacturing to develop a stable production schedule that accounts for capacity, yield rates, Kanban flow, and nonconformance disposition Adjust daily delivery schedules when production issues affect internal requirements or contractual obligations Identify and lead process, system, and data-quality improvements that increase planning accuracy and efficiency Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required Minimum of five years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment Extensive experience creating and managing production schedules Strong understanding of MRP systems, materials planning, and manufacturing operations Experience balancing production capacity, material availability, labor requirements, and customer demand Strong background in project material management Understanding of business processes and cross-functional relationships Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments Ability to manage changing priorities and address production constraints in a fast-paced environment \nCompany Description Johnson Service Group, Inc.
