Position MRI Technologist – PRN Responsibilities Prepare patients for MRI procedures. Protect patient, self, and other staff from hazards. Obtain MRI and other radiological exams following established procedures for patient care and safety, including setting up and operating MRI/radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and implementing infection control procedures for the work area. Position patients and take diagnostic images of specific parts of the patient’s body as requested by physicians. Process images. Check imaging for clarity, reacquiring when needed. Distribute or transmit images to appropriate medical staff. Properly operate and assist providers in the use of Large C-arm including adjusting densities and contrast, reducing dose exposure, increasing dose exposure for image quality, printing images, transferring images to the OPA PACS system, and operating under ALARA during each exam. Download images from CD, pull up images on PACS and label downloaded images onto the OPA PACS system as required or needed. Aid and assist providers and staff during procedures, including patient positioning that demonstrates the best anatomy, moving radiology equipment, providing radiation protective devices, and complying with ALARA and provider standards and preferences. Recognize which scheduled exams require imaging; order and aid in those exams, and perform according to planned and/or emergency situations. Demonstrate diplomacy and tact in interpersonal interactions with patients, management, nursing staff and physicians. Maintain required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports. Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to equipment, including determining equipment repairs. Perform quantity and quality control checks to assure equipment meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies. Comply with safety standards. Maintain supplies, and order as necessary, stock room and storage units, clean C-arm. Assist with patient turnover, communicate nightly with management for that day's schedule. Other duties as needed or assigned. Knowledge and skills Knowledge of patient positioning during MRI/radiologic exams. Knowledge of MR & radiation safety and protection. Able to adjust MR & radiation factors to obtain optimal imaging based on physicians' needs and abiding by ALARA. Skill in using proper body mechanics to ensure patient and technologist safety when moving/transferring patients. Required qualifications One year of experience as an MRI technologist. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Associate degree in radiological technology from an accredited X-ray technologist program. Preferred qualifications Three years of experience as an MRI Technologist in OR or medical practice setting.
