Heavy Equipment Operator/ Foreman

Heavy Equipment Operator / Foreman

Jeffery Contracting LLC is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators and Foremen to join our growing team. We are looking for dependable, motivated individuals with strong heavy civil construction experience who take pride in their work and can safely and efficiently help lead projects in the field.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, rollers, skid steers, and other heavy construction equipment.
• Read and understand plan sets, design drawings, specifications, survey stakes, layout markings, and grade information.
• Understand grading requirements for sitework, roadways, footings, foundations, and underground utilities.
• Perform excavation, grading, utility installation, roadway construction, and other heavy civil construction activities.
• Maintain proper grades and elevations while working from plans, survey information, and field staking.
• Coordinate daily work with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and other crew members.
• Foremen will be responsible for helping organize and direct crews, equipment, materials, and daily production.
• Communicate job expectations clearly and help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to project specifications.
• Maintain a professional and respectful attitude when interacting with coworkers, subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and the public.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment.
• Be responsible for fueling, greasing, cleaning, and general care of equipment.
• Complete required daily inspection forms and immediately report damage, defects, or maintenance concerns.
• Maintain accurate daily records, quantities, production information, and other required job documentation.
• Follow and enforce all Jeffery Contracting, OSHA, and MSHA safety requirements.
• Assist with hands-on field work when necessary to help the crew complete the job.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Minimum 1+ years of heavy equipment operation experience required. Additional heavy civil experience preferred for Foreman positions.
• Experience with excavation, underground utilities, grading, road construction, and sitework strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to safely and effectively operate heavy equipment.
• Ability to read plans, understand grades, and work from survey staking and layout.
• Strong leadership and communication skills preferred for Foreman applicants.
• Ability to work well with others, take direction, and provide direction when necessary.
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• Must be dependable, reliable, and on time every day.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Must be able to pass required pre-employment screening.
