Field Service Technician

Field Service TechnicianField service technicians are responsible for customer equipment installation and service work. Technicians also maintain our inventory of network assets. We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, self-motivated and can direct their own work at customer locations. Computer networking skills are a plus. However, in house training is offered for candidates who have basic technical skills and aptitude. Applicants must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades and change-of-serviceInstall and relocate outletsInstall or remove converters and cable modemsInstall interior and exterior wiringConnect peripheral equipmentTrain customers on proper use of equipmentMonitor, repair and record system, drop, and in-house leakageAssure proper signal levels and picture qualityIdentify causes of picture and/or signal degradationTroubleshoot from consumer device to tapTroubleshoot, repair and replace components from tap to consumer deviceAssure system security by terminating unused ports and tag drops and locking pedestalsTake voltage measurementsUnderstand/apply FCC and NESC technical standardsIdentify and report all incidents of noncompliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA and company standards)Provide superior customer serviceComplete all tasks to company quality standardsMaintain professional appearance and behavior at all timesMaintain excellent attendanceResponsible for motor vehicle per company policy including equipment & tool inventory, vehicle security and vehicle maintenanceReplaces defective/damaged tap plates and installs new tapsTroubleshoots/repairs problems between customer equipment and the RF of the optical node.Troubleshoots/repairs problems with RF, AC, DC portion of forward and reverse plant for transmission levels, signal losses and other interference.Performs routine balancing, aligning and adjustment of components and equipment used to amplify and process signals from output of the node.Performs underground and aerial construction duties associated with CATV operations.Performs network troubleshooting including ping test, trace routes and speed test.Installs power supply and performs field engineering walkouts.Other duties as assigned - which may include training other employeesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. One to two years of experience in the broadband communication field preferred.
