As a Financial Services Technician specializing in Accounts Payable at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a large, integrated automated accounting and financial management system. Your responsibilities will include the data entry of complex financial transactions across multiple programs and vendors, with a key focus on processing accounts payable. You will examine invoices, vouchers, and requisitions to ensure their accuracy, while also addressing and resolving any discrepancies with vendors and agency staff. Your tasks will encompass preparing bills for payment, entering and proofreading account information, printing and distributing checks, and reconciling vendor accounts.

Additionally, you will maintain the Accounts Payable database, set up new vendors, and assist with year-end closing by preparing prior year records for offsite storage. You will also support the Credentialing and Procurement Coordinator by tracking credentialing applications and maintaining essential files. To qualify for this position, candidates must have the following:

• One (1) year experience in Accounts Payable using an automated computer-based system.

Additionally, successful candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of agency financial and administrative policies and procedures, enabling them to navigate the complexities of multiple programs and vendors effectively. In addition, familiarity with generally accepted bookkeeping and accounting procedures is crucial for ensuring accuracy in financial transactions.
