Our engineers reverse engineer and look for the "why" when things fail. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of structures and construction problems including residential, commercial and industrial propertiesDetermine of the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazingAssignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations, vibration analysis, construction site accidents and building egress accident evaluationsAnalyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standardsConduct unbiased investigations for various types of clientsResponsible for retention and development of client relationsPrepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediationDeliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groupsAbility to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedingsAbility to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performanceMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies Position Requirements:Bachelor 's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required, Master's degree a plusThree to five years of civil/structural experienceP.E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing or ability to obtain within six monthsMust possess strong writing skillsPublic speaking experience a plusExceptional interpersonal and communication skills Physical Requirements:Ability to travel 25% of the timeAbility to lift 50 lbsAbility and willingness to climb ladders and inspect roofsAbility to carry equipment to and from job sitesAbility to work at various heights on structuresAbility to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spacesAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writingAbility to effectively communicate with clients and colleaguesAbility to drive in all conditionsAbility to fly on airplanesAbility to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifactsAbility to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work siteAbility to learn a new industry and obtain required certificationsS-E-A places a strong value on employee health and wellness across the company.
