Position Details Medical Assistant - Pediatrics Mercy Clinic Pediatrics Clayton/Clarkson 15945 Clayton Road, Suite 320, Ballwin, MO 63011 Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week Join Mercy and Make a Difference Every Day Mercy Clinic Pediatrics Clayton/Clarkson is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing pediatric team. In this role, you'll support providers in delivering exceptional care to children and their families while helping ensure a positive, efficient patient experience. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide both clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. What You'll Do Greet and room patients while obtaining and documenting vital signs. Collect and update medical histories, including medication reconciliation. Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits and procedures. Perform basic diagnostic testing, including urine dipsticks, glucose testing, and EKGs as appropriate. Accurately document patient care in the electronic health record (EHR). Reinforce patient education as directed by providers and nursing staff. Maintain exam room cleanliness and stock necessary supplies. Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments. Assist with front-office responsibilities including answering phones, patient check-in/check-out, document management, and fax processing. Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory guidelines. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings. Perform other duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Ability to attend and successfully complete Mercy's MA Clinic Academy training. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Basic computer and documentation skills. Preferred Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. One year of experience in an outpatient, ambulatory, or physician office setting. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Experience with electronic health records (EHR). Pediatric experience preferred but not required. Skills & Abilities Excellent customer service and patient care skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities. Knowledge of outpatient clinical procedures and medical equipment. Commitment to teamwork, professional growth, and patient-centered care. Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and families. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Outpatient pediatric clinic with frequent patient interaction. Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and squatting throughout the workday. Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
