Externship Overview:
Veterinary externs will work side-by-side with experienced DVMs and support staff to gain practical experience in:
This externship is ideal for students who want to sharpen both clinical and communication skills in a well-rounded, general practice setting that emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and case ownership.
Program Details:
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: typically 2 weeks minimum, up to 4 weeks (flexible to student schedule)
Open to: 3rd- and 4th-year DVM students
Stipend: Up to $1,500 for eligible clinical-year students

- Diagnostic workups and development of treatment plans
- Observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures (based on experience)
- Dental cleanings and oral health assessments
- In-house lab work and imaging
- Medical management of cases
- Client communication and teamwork with staff
