Health Care Professional - Nursing - Certified Medical Assistant

Job Summary: Provide clinical and administrative support in behavioral health and primary care settings. Assist with exams, administer medications, collect specimens, and maintain documentation. Operate under supervision and follow established protocols to ensure safe and effective client care. North Campus is a 24 hour facility, hiring for all position options; Full-time, Part-time, and PRN to work day, evening, and/or overnight shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Take vital signs and monitor client responses to medications and treatments
• Administer medications and document administration per agency protocols
• Perform urine drug screenings and prepare specimens for lab processing
• Assist with exams, injections as authorized by the prescriber and regulating authorities, and in-office treatments (e.g., nebulizer therapy)
• Coordinate medical and wellness appointments with internal and external providers
• Maintain clinical documentation in electronic health records and complete progress notes
• Monitor inventory and ensure availability of medical supplies and equipment
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of clinic areas
• Provide directions and support to clients during visits
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements - Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree or two-year technical certificate
• 13 years of experience in medical assisting or clinical support
• Certification as a Medical Assistant
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems
• Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with agency policy

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPR/BLS certification
• Experience in behavioral health or integrated care settings
• Familiarity with medication protocols and chronic condition management
• Training in trauma-informed care and patient engagement

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical assisting procedures, medication protocols, and safety standards
• Skill in documenting clinical services and maintaining accurate records
• Skill in communicating effectively with clients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to follow established procedures and respond to client needs appropriately
• Ability to identify potential problems and escalate concerns
• Ability to learn and retain processes through instruction and apply them independently

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not supervise or function in a lead worker capacity.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This role generally performs work under the following conditions: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, including the human body. This role requires regular movement throughout the workday, including walking, stair climbing, and driving to community-based locations. Employees must be physically capable of navigating varied environments such as residential facilities, urban areas, and client homes. Close concentration and visual attention required. Variable working conditions. The incumbent may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions (including but not limited to the risk from exposure to certain microorganisms, blood born pathogens, bacteria, sick or dangerous animals or people). Staff may frequently encounter high-risk scenarios involving aggressive, self-injurious, or otherwise unsafe behaviors. The role requires intensive behavior management strategies, including physical interventions and crisis response.
