Founding Partner - Operations & Asset Management
Private Equity-Backed Renewable Energy Investment Platform
Location: Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill Area - Relocation support provided
The Opportunity
We have been retained by a newly established, private equity-backed renewable energy investment platform to identify a third founding partner to lead Operations & Asset Management.
Backed by a specialist energy infrastructure investor, the business is focused on acquiring, improving and operating underperforming utility-scale solar assets across the US, with ambitions to expand into larger renewable assets and battery storage.
This is a genuine equity-holding founding partner opportunity, working alongside two experienced co-founders bringing complementary expertise across finance, investment, development and EPC.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational and technical due diligence on prospective acquisitions, identifying risks, improvement opportunities and capital requirements.
- Establish and oversee the platform's O&M and asset management strategy across its growing portfolio.
- Drive operational performance, equipment reliability, maintenance strategies and asset optimization.
- Evaluate operational challenges and translate technical findings into commercial and investment decisions.
- Build and lead the O&M/AM organization, including contractors, service providers, systems and processes.
- Contribute to acquisition strategy, capital allocation and broader business development as an equal founding partner.
Ideal Background
- Senior leadership experience in US utility-scale solar operations, O&M or technical asset management.
- Strong understanding of solar equipment, plant performance, maintenance and operational challenges.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to connect operational performance to project economics and investment returns.
- Experience managing operating portfolios, contractors, budgets and multidisciplinary teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and genuine ambition to build and own a business rather than simply manage an established function.
- Experience in acquisition diligence, asset remediation or repowering advantageous.
Compensation & Opportunity
Competitive executive compensation, annual bonus and meaningful founding-partner equity participation, offering significant long-term value creation potential.
This is an opportunity to move beyond managing assets for an established organization and become a genuine owner in a well-capitalized renewable energy investment platform.
