Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery, equipment, and facilities within a steel fabrication environment. The Maintenance Mechanic ensures that production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime through both preventive and reactive maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on fabrication equipment, including CNC machines, presses, shears, brakes, saws, and material handling equipment.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on a wide range of industrial machinery.

• Diagnose equipment malfunctions accurately and determine appropriate repair methods to restore equipment to proper working condition.

• Maintain and service welding machines, forklifts, and cranes to ensure safe and reliable operation.

• Perform basic fabrication and welding repairs as needed to support equipment maintenance and facility upkeep.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to guide troubleshooting and repair activities.

• Work with motors, sensors, and related components to identify faults and implement effective repairs or replacements.

• Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and issues to relevant stakeholders.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of recent industrial mechanical maintenance experience.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic systems.

• Experience performing preventive and reactive maintenance on industrial fabrication equipment.

• Experience maintaining and repairing CNC machinery.

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues on industrial equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.

• Experience working with motors and sensors in an industrial environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Basic welding and fabrication experience sufficient to support equipment repair.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience maintaining welding machines, forklifts, and cranes.

• Experience in a steel fabrication or similar heavy industrial environment.

• Familiarity with material handling equipment and its maintenance requirements.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions quickly.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a hot weld shop within a steel fabrication facility, where you will work around welding operations, heavy machinery, and material handling equipment. You will regularly interact with CNC machines, presses, shears, brakes, saws, welding equipment, forklifts, and cranes. The environment is industrial and physically demanding, requiring comfort working in warm conditions, around noise, and near active production equipment while following appropriate safety practices and wearing suitable work attire and protective equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
