Description

American Traveler is hiring a Postpartum RN for a Mother Baby unit requiring prior postpartum and newborn care experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Mother Baby unit within a Level L&D/PP/MB department featuring 22 L&D beds, 2 C-section OR suites, 7 triage beds, and 34 postpartum beds
• Unit averages approximately 8 births per day and 250 per month
• Cares for postpartum vaginal and C-section patients along with their newborns
• Follows AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines
• Night shift schedule with every third weekend required
• 18 hours of call required every 6 weeks
• Charge nurse does not take patient assignments and a House Supervisor is on duty at night
• No nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
• OB physician and NNP in house 24/7
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• RNs monitor pulse ox readings without dedicated tele techs
• Uses Epic for charting and EFM monitoring
• Floating within Zone 1 may be required; L&D floating is preferred but not mandatory (ACLS required if floating to L&D)
• Navy blue scrubs required
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active CO state or compact (NLC) RN license required
• BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior postpartum experience including newborn care required
• ACLS required if floating to Labor & Delivery
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to postpartum mothers and their newborns in vaginal and C-section recovery
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Holiday coverage expected, including summer holidays or two winter holidays depending on season
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
