Cost Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our team in La Porte, Indiana. This position will play a key role in analyzing manufacturing costs, supporting financial reporting, and providing meaningful insight into operational performance.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of manufacturing experience, strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and production variances.
• Prepare and analyze cost reports, inventory data, and financial information to identify trends and opportunities.
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Investigate cost and production variances and communicate findings to management and operations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, standard costing, and cost analysis.
• Monitor inventory and manufacturing-related expenses for accuracy and efficiency.
• Partner with operations and other departments to improve cost controls and profitability.
• Identify process improvements and provide analytical support for business decisions.
• Ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and compliant with accounting standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• At least 1 year of manufacturing accounting or cost accounting experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with accounting, operations, and leadership teams.
• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
