Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Evening/Night Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Pediatric experience Level 1 or 2 trauma experience Cerner experience (preferred) Description: This position is for an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. The unit is an Adult and Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center. It serves both emergency and urgent care patients. The facility has 38 beds and 5 trauma bays/resuscitation rooms. The average number of patients treated daily is between 140 to 180. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 in the Emergency Room and 1:6 in Urgent Care. Common diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, sepsis, syncope, and elevated heart rates. Nurses are expected to triage patients from ambulances. There is no Fast Track available; however, there is an Urgent Care. Security is available 24/7 but is not housed in the Emergency Room. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 for assistance with critically ill patients. RNs are expected to keep an eye on patient rhythms on GE monitors throughout the department. Phlebotomy services are available for blood cultures, but RNs will draw labs. Shift scheduling is done by an RN scheduler, without self-scheduling options. Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required. There is no call or standby requirement. RNs may only float for patient sitting or assisting other units. Scrubs should be of any solid color, clean, and professional.
