This position is responsible for financial reporting, cash flow planning, project accounting, and supporting year-end audits. Major areas of focus include financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, monthly and year-end close, financial statement preparation, monthly billings, and KPI development and tracking.Key ResponsibilitiesMonth-End Close & Financial ReportingPrepare month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP for owners and outside parties.Analyze financial results and present findings to ownership.Project Accounting & Job CostingManage WIP/CIP reporting and oversee the Construction Bookkeeper on draw processes and subcontractor lien waivers, as directed by the VP of Construction and Project Managers.Budgeting, Forecasting & KPIsCollaborate with the VP of Construction, project managers, and the finance team to establish realistic budgets, track variances, and forecast cash flow.Establish KPIs and partner with the finance team to track and report on performance metrics.Accounts Payable & ReceivableOversee vendor contract compliance, AIA progress billings, and invoice workflows.Audit Support & Special ProjectsServe as primary point of contact for the external independent accounting firm; prepare workpaper packages for externally reviewed financial statements.Support internal and external audits as needed.Complete special projects as assigned by the Senior Controller, CFO, and VP of Construction.Any other responsibilities as assigned by the CFO, Senior Controller, and Evergreen Construction Company President.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance required.5–7 years of experience in the construction industry, or a combination of construction industry and public accounting experience with a construction focus.Licenses & CertificationsCPA or CCIFP designation preferred but not required; candidates with equivalent construction accounting experience will be considered.Technical & Physical SkillsPC proficiency (Windows environment) and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.Working knowledge of RealPage Accounting and Job Costing software is a plus.Understanding of AIA accounting documents such as G702 & G703.Understanding of certified payroll and related requirements.Understanding of contract change orders and owner change orders.Other RequirementsHigh level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency; results-oriented with the ability to work under deadlines.SkillsCommunication: Communicates clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization, from project teams to executive leadership and ownership.Problem Solving & Judgment: Exercises sound judgment and makes decisions based on accurate and timely analysis; anticipates issues before they become problems.Attention to Detail: Maintains a high standard of accuracy and thoroughness in financial reporting, reconciliations, and job cost tracking.Results Orientation: Drives work to completion with a strong sense of urgency; manages competing deadlines without sacrificing quality.Collaboration: Builds effective working relationships across finance, construction, and operations teams to support shared goals.Adaptability: Adjusts quickly to shifting priorities and evolving needs in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.Work Environment & Physical DemandsWorking conditions and physical requirements are normal for an office environment.
