Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of clients presenting with mood disorders. This involves gathering detailed psychosocial histories, evaluating current symptoms, and identifying factors impacting their mental health.
• Diagnosis: Accurately diagnose mental health conditions utilizing the DSM-5 criteria, ensuring valid and reliable outcomes for each client.
• Treatment Planning: Design individualized treatment plans through collaborative processes with clients, rooted in evidence-based practices tailored to their specific goals and needs.
• Psychotherapy: Implement and provide psychotherapy using proven modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness strategies to effectively address mood disorders.
• Medication Management Collaboration: Work in tandem with our supervising psychiatrist to offer comprehensive care, sharing insights on medication efficacy, potential side effects, and patient adherence to treatment.
• Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention for clients in acute distress or crisis situations related to their mood disorders, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain meticulous documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations and professional standards, tracking treatment progress and outcomes.
• Collaboration and Consultation: Engage with multidisciplinary team members, including psychologists and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care plans that address the holistic needs of our clients.
• Client Education and Support: Empower clients and their families by providing education on mood disorders, effective coping strategies, and self-care practices.
• Professional Ethics: Uphold the highest ethical standards and professional conduct, ensuring trust and confidentiality in all client interactions.
• Quality Improvement and Outcome Monitoring: Participate actively in performance evaluation initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and effectiveness of clinical services provided.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily focus on individuals facing mood disorders, which often present with intricacies and varying degrees of severity. You will engage with clients from diverse backgrounds, each with unique stories, needs, and challenges that require a sensitive and culturally competent approach. Understanding the systemic barriers many face in accessing care will help you tailor your methods of support and intervention accordingly.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
• At least two years of post-licensure clinical experience, ideally focusing on mood disorders and related mental health issues.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with advanced training in evidence-based treatment modalities, extensive crisis intervention experience, and a background in a community health setting will be highly regarded. Familiarity with telehealth practices and electronic health record systems is also beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits
