Job Description:

The RN in the Emergency Room (ER) is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced environment. The role requires maintaining a sterile field and completing SIMs Lab skills such as Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. The RN must manage trauma and critical care patients, ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation using the Cerner EMR system.

Responsibilities:

• Provide care in a 36-bed acute setting and 54-bed subacute setting with a focus on trauma and emergency care.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and comply with all clinical protocols including managing ventilators handled by RTs.
• Float between St. Joseph's Main, St. Joseph's Westgate, and the free-standing ERs as needed.
• Participate in a 2-3 shift floor-specific orientation and maintain competency in SIMs Lab assessments.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and families to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Requirements:

• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum of 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience and 2 years of ER experience.
• Ability to pass the Day 1 pass/fail exam and the DYS exam prior to accepting the position.
• Must have natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven.
• Proficiency with Philips telemetry monitors and reading strips required.
