About the Position

The position involves providing care for patients with solid tumors, including lung, breast, and pancreatic cancers. Nurses will also manage patients undergoing bone marrow transplants. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy administration experience is not required for this role. Patient ratios will be 1:4-5 and 1:3 for bone marrow transplant cases. Candidates must be open to floating within the service line to meet facility needs. Weekends will be required every other week. Candidates who have had previous experience in patient care are preferred. Nurses will need to complete successfully an EKG exam and manage dysrhythmias. The patient average stay is typically 3-5 days. The unit involves the use of special equipment such as CAD pumps. Experience with IV starts, administration of chemotherapy, trach care, and accessing ports and central lines is beneficial. Candidates will need to monitor chemotherapy and manage IVs. Interdisciplinary support from various departments will be available. Strong communication and team collaboration skills are essential for this position. This position does not require on-call duties.
