Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) San Antonio, TX. The Registered Nurse (RN) Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) provides specialized nursing care for patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and critical care support. This role supports cardiovascular patients, including post-procedural and post-surgical care, and requires strong clinical judgment in complex, high-acuity environments. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts; minimum 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active Texas RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ICU experience; hemodynamic monitoring experience (e.g., Swan-Ganz, arterial lines); ventilator management experience; strong critical thinking skills; at least 2 years of ICU experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) exposure; continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) exposure; experience with Meditech charting and order entry.
• Responsibilities:
  • Perform and monitor hemodynamic assessments, including use of advanced monitoring devices (e.g., Swan-Ganz, arterial lines).
  • Provide care for mechanically ventilated patients, including ventilator management.
  • Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to support high-acuity cardiovascular patients.
  • Support care for post-procedural and post-surgical cardiovascular patients, including post CABG, post VAD, and post cath cases with cardiac support devices (e.g., IABP, Impella, ECMO).
  • Float as required per the facility floating policy.
  • Complete attendance expectations, including badging in and out for shift and taking a full 30-minute lunch; arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit-specific documentation system: Meditech.
  • Dress code for RN: Navy scrub top and pant; Navy or white scrub jacket.
  • Nail and grooming expectations: hair should be neat and clean with no extreme styles or colors; beards, mustaches, and sideburns should be clean and neatly trimmed; tattoos should be covered whenever possible; visible piercings other than ears are prohibited.
  • Shift coverage includes rotating days and nights per the posted shift pattern.
