Patient Care Assistant, PICU

Shriners Children's PICU Patient Care Assistant

Shriners Children's has an opportunity for a full-time Patient Care Assistant in our PICU at our Philadelphia hospital. Evening Hours- 3:30pm- 12:00 AM

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned
• Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families
• Monitors children's activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children
• Answers telephones, triages phone calls appropriately
• Completes purchase orders for PICU and inpatient unit
• Maintains unit supplies and monitors inventory
• Assists with routine secretarial assistance such as copying, faxing, and typing
• Assist with patient transport
• Schedule appointments with consultants, radiology, and other imaging services
• Assists with performance improvement processes and gathering data

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of pediatric experience

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
