Job Title: Research Senior Technician - Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Medicine | Radiation Oncology Function: Research and Scholarship Sub Function: Research Career Band: Individual Contributor - Technical Career Level: T3 Location: Tsagournis Medical Research Facility (0163) Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Responsibilities Independently conduct assigned experiments Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis Sort and process tissue and blood samples Test and evaluate current procedures Perform routine procedures on laboratory animals Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results Assist in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts Prepare research progress reports Assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts Conduct library research on requested topics through researching current literature Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities Assist with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation Set up and operate laboratory equipment Monitor research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiate procurement requests as needed Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required High School diploma or GED; 2 years of relevant experience required Associate's Degree; 0 years of relevant experience required Bachelor's Degree; 0 years of relevant experience required Additional Information Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
