Electrical Switchgear Assembler

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Switchgear Assembler to join our manufacturing team. The Assembler will build and assemble switchboards, switchgear, electrical enclosures, and power distribution equipment according to engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and work instructions.

This position is hands-on and requires experience using hand and power tools, reading basic electrical drawings, installing electrical components, and performing mechanical and electrical assembly.

Responsibilities

• Assemble switchboards, switchgear, electrical panels, and power distribution equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and assembly drawings.
• Install and route electrical wiring, cables, terminals, breakers, switches, relays, bus bars, and other components.
• Perform mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
• Drill, cut, fasten, and mount components into electrical enclosures.
• Use torque wrenches and other tools to tighten components to specified requirements.
• Measure, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate electrical wire and cable.
• Connect wires and components according to wiring diagrams and engineering specifications.
• Verify proper component placement, wiring, labeling, and connections.
• Perform visual and quality inspections throughout the assembly process.
• Identify incorrect components, wiring issues, damaged parts, or other assembly problems.
• Make adjustments and corrections as needed to meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and manufacturing work instructions.
• Work closely with other assemblers, electricians, technicians, and supervisors to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of experience in electrical assembly, electromechanical assembly, switchgear, switchboards, control panels, power distribution equipment, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, crimpers, and torque wrenches.
• Basic understanding of electrical components such as breakers, switches, relays, terminals, fuses, connectors, and wiring.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive assembly work.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
• Must be safety-conscious and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred. Technical school, electrical training, or an electrical apprenticeship is a plus.

Work Environment

Manufacturing environment with extended periods of standing, frequent use of hand and power tools, and movement of materials and components. Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
