Retail Pharmacy Technician

Certified Pharmacy TechnicianSt. Croix Health is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team! This position will primarily work at the Frederic, WI location, but flex to St. Croix Falls and Balsam Lake locations when needed. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, day hours. The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining accurate drug inventory, and ensuring proper documentation of pharmacy activities. All tasks are performed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProcess PrescriptionsReceive new prescriptions and refill requests, verifying the information for accuracy and completenessProcess prescriptions through insurance systems, resolving rejections or coverage issues as neededPrepare and package bulk medications, fill prescription bottles and affix appropriate labels in accordance with legal and safety standardsFile prescriptions and maintain accurate records to ensure regulatory compliance and ease of retrievalMix or compound pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescription, formula, or pharmacist instructions, ensuring proper technique and documentation.Stock Medication and InventoryMaintain appropriate storage conditions and security protocols for all medications in accordance with regulatory and safety standardsOrder, receive, label and count medications, chemicals and pharmacy suppliesUpdate inventory records in the pharmacy information system to ensure accurate tracking and stock controlCustomer ServiceAssist customer by answering routine questions, help locating items, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist when appropriateAnswer telephone inquiries promptly and courteously, directing calls to the appropriate personnel as neededOperate the cash register to process payments accurately, including handling cash, credit or electronic transactions, and providing receipts to customers.RequirementsEducation & Licensure:High School diploma or equivalent requiredCertified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is required within 12 months of hireMust be registered in Wisconsin to work in a pharmacy at time of hireExperience:Retail Pharmacy Experience preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Excellent communication (verbal and written) and listening skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and prioritiesAble to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work scheduleAble to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to requestsFosters a team environmentSelf-directed and highly engaged, but also able to work well in a teamAbility to solve problems and encourage others in collaborative problem solvingAble to work cooperatively and effectively with providers, staff, and patientsPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerProlonged periods of standing, bending, and reachingMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesSt. Croix Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
