Civil Design Engineer

Contract Role | Civil Design Engineer in Spring City TN

Duration: 1 year contract with possible extension

As a Civil Design Specialist, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or when confirmation by testing is advisable.

Typically serves as a staff advisor and consultant in a technical specialty, specific type of facility or equipment, or program function. Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices across broad areas of assignments and related fields.

Independently makes decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to address critical questions, plan, and coordinate work. Assignments often require the use of advanced techniques and the modification or extension of theories, principles, and practices in civil engineering and related disciplines.

The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work are usually developed through progressive experience in the field.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Related continuing education is expected.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is desirable.
• Membership in professional and technical societies is desirable.
• Master's degree is also desirable.
