Patient Service Coordinator/MA (DOM Clinical Operations)

Job Summary Patient Service Coordinator/MA – An outpatient multi‑specialty clinical practice position that combines medical assistant duties with patient scheduling and front‑office coordination. Key Responsibilities Measure vital signs, assist during physical examinations, complete medical work‑up, administer immunizations, and perform phlebotomy. Document all services in the electronic patient record. Register patients for clinical appointments using computerized database, record insurance information, collect copayments, and schedule follow‑up appointments. Interact with patients, families, referring physicians, and third‑party carriers to address patient‑related issues. Schedule patients for lab tests, medical examinations, and consultations. Provide patients with preparation instructions for lab tests and examinations and explain various medical insurance plans. Obtain pre‑certifications from health‑care insurers or managed‑care providers; assist patients with completing insurance forms. Inform patients of cost of care and direct them to appropriate resources for additional information or assistance. Arrange or assist in arranging patient transportation as needed. Answer telephone calls, screen callers, relay messages, greet visitors, and manage mail. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and certification/registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP). One year of customer‑service experience. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification. Must maintain Medical Assistant and CPR certification/registration throughout employment. Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) and strong customer‑service and organizational skills. Additional Requirements Must be flexible with work hours. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Additional or higher education may substitute for required experience as permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
