Position Overview Full‑time Registered Nurse at Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home. Key Information Location: Hot Springs, South Dakota Salary: $33.79 – $39.63 per hour (plus shift and weekend pay) Pay Grade: N1‑N2 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Responsibilities Provide professional nursing services in a long‑term care setting, following established healthcare procedures and standards. Specific duties include: Assess patients and develop care plans. Administer medications, treatments, and monitor patient progress. Maintain accurate records and reports on observations. Operate medical equipment and apply general nursing techniques. Communicate effectively with patients, family, and staff. Maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients. Follow instructions and participate in team‑based care. Knowledge Of Professional nursing theory and practices. Recent developments in professional nursing relevant to the assignment. Clinical procedures. Ability To Keep records; follow instructions; operate a variety of medical equipment. Make reports on observations; apply general nursing techniques and practices. Maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude towards patients; communicate effectively; deal effectively with patients and staff. Licenses & Certifications Must be licensed and able to work as a registered nurse in South Dakota. Ideal Candidate Registered Nurse License and associate degree, bachelor degree, or 3‑year diploma; new graduates welcome; on‑the‑job training available. Additional Information Availability of reduced tuition for continuing education, low‑cost housing, and veterans’ preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
