• Pay Rate: $55.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Nights, 18:45–07:15 (3×12 hours); 36 or 48 hours per week; Every other weekend required; No on-call requirement

Job Summary

This is a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) travel nursing position at a hospital facility in Wilmington, NC. The unit operates on a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio with self-scheduling and accepts first-time travelers as well as local candidates. Unit orientation is 24 hours. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients with diagnoses including but not limited to: diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, various surgical recovery cases, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, including remote telemetry monitoring
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as appropriate
• Manage and care for patients with bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy, and feeding tubes
• Perform pre/post hemodialysis management and care for patients with renal failure
• Administer blood products, manage central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and start/maintain IVs
• Administer Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
• Manage chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), BiPAP/CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, and oxygen tanks
• Maintain isolation precautions and proper PPE usage
• Perform wound care and wound vac management
• Float to main campus (NHRMC, approximately 32 minutes away) as required
• Work every other weekend as required
• Must be able to work holidays; no block schedules unless a weekend block
• Adhere to a maximum of 7 days RTO per contract
• Document using Pyxis medication system
• Self-schedule per unit scheduling type

Education Requirements

• Active RN License required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (hard stop)
• Unit accepts first-time travelers

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Onsite, inpatient Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (3×12-hour shifts)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Float requirement: Traveler may be required to float to main campus (NHRMC, approximately 32 minutes away)
• Maximum 7 days RTO per contract
• Must be able to work holidays; no block schedules unless a weekend block
• Scrubs: Navy Blue or White
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• COVID-19 vaccination: Not required
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster
• Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur; contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed
