What You’ll Do Supervise and monitor inmate activities. Ensure inmate and facility safety and compliance. Conduct inspections, searches, and complete incident reports. Support rehabilitation and re‑entry efforts. Enforce all jail rules and regulations, maintain safety, handle new arrivals, escort inmates, conduct searches, inventory, and maintain secure records. Monitor activities during meals, cleaning, exercise, work, recreation, visitation, and religious services, take periodic headcounts, and manage inmate movements and work details. Coordinate food, clothing, medical aid, visitation, telephone, and mail services. Maintain security through checks, surveillance, door operations, fire drills, and control of contraband. Respond to emergencies, operate fire suppression equipment, and provide first aid or CPR when needed. Process releases, prepare out‑processing documentation, and oversee cleaning after release. Handle inquiries from inmates, the public, court personnel, medical staff, attorneys, clergy, and other stakeholders. Ensure special‑needs inmates receive required attention. Mediates disputes, counsels, and disciplines inmates. Enter and retrieve computer data for inmate records and reporting. Attend shift meetings, trainings, and maintain knowledge of policies, laws, and procedures. Maintain records, prepare forms, reports, and incident logs. Integrity, resilience, and a commitment to public service. Ability to pass background checks and physical assessments. Special Requirements Must agree to and successfully pass a background investigation, drug screening, and polygraph. Must complete and maintain Basic Jail Officer Certification in addition to CPR and First Aid. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license within 30 days of becoming a resident. Must successfully pass minimum Physical Fitness/Agility standards for running, sit‑ups and push‑ups; may be required to submit to a psychological profile test. Must be a U.S. citizen, have a high‑school diploma or equivalent, and not have been convicted of a crime that would bar law‑enforcement service.
