Dietitian (Sign On Bonus up to $2500)

The Dietitian designs and implements therapeutic nutritional care plans for patients, based on physician’s diagnosis, utilizing general dietetic standards and regulations. Responsibilities Collaborate with interdisciplinary team in the nutritional aspects of patient care by sharing specialized knowledge with the medical team, participating in patient rounds and conferences, recording in medical records, and assessing the nutritional status of patients, instructing patients, recording diet histories, interpreting and integrating therapeutic principles. Monitor and document patient progress and consult with physicians as needed. Make appropriate notation of food and drug interactions in the patient medical record. Educate and provide guidance to staff, patients, and families regarding diet and food plans. Administer and advise dietary operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans. Maintain current diet manual for therapeutic diets approved jointly by the dietitian and medical staff. Be prepared to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies. Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assess the risks for safety and implement appropriate precautions. Comply with approved safety and infection prevention standards. Maintain regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule. Complete required training as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutritional sciences, clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, or a related area (required). Two years directly related experience in a hospital setting (preferred). Licensing Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (required). Licensed as a Registered Dietitian per state requirements (required). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of current patient diet, food and nutrition research, and safe food handling requirements. Understanding of treatment costs and financial support as they relate to quality and efficiency. General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management. Critical thinking skills. Effective organizational and time management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards. Ability to work independently. Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality. Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization. Physical Requirements Significant amount of standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time. Lifting/exerting up to 50 lbs. Possible exposure to bodily fluids. Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care. Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
