As our Mobile Health Unit Driver, you'll do more than transport a vehicle-you'll help deliver care where it's needed most and play an essential role in expanding access to healthcare.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Safely operate and transport the Mobile Health Unit to and from designated service locations in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the mobile health unit, documenting and promptly reporting any mechanical, safety, or operational issues.
• Plan and evaluate travel routes in advance to ensure the safe operation of the mobile health unit.
• Ensure the mobile health unit is fueled, maintain responsibility for the fuel card, and accurately record vehicle mileage and other required transportation logs.
• Assist with the setup, breakdown, and securing of the mobile health unit at each service location.
• Support the clinical team with non-licensed patient care and operational duties.
• Monitor and maintain clinical inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked, organized, and available for patient care.
• Safely assist patients with boarding and exiting the mobile health unit when needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the effective operation of the Mobile Health Program and HealthWorks for Northern Virginia.

Position Requirements - Qualifications & Education Requirement

Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Fluency in English required. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, including no moving violations within the past three (3) years, and the ability to meet HealthWorks' insurability requirements. Previous experience operating large vehicles, such as trucks, buses, minibuses, or mobile medical units, with the ability to safely maneuver and transport specialized vehicles -required. Medical Assistant certification or comparable clinical experience preferred. Experience using an electronic health record (EHR) system; eClinicalWorks experience preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to operate vehicles safely under a variety of road and weather conditions. Ability to successfully complete HealthWorks' Mobile Health Unit training program within the first 30 days of employment. Proficiency using navigation tools, including onboard GPS systems, smartphone navigation applications, and web-based or printed maps. Ability to maintain accurate mileage logs, vehicle inspection reports, fuel records, and other required documentation. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and initiative. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage supplies, and maintain an orderly mobile clinic environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and patient engagement skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, community partners, and colleagues. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Reliable, dependable, and adaptable, with the ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in emergency or high-pressure situations.
